I am not the kind of person who makes a good door mat. I am not a martyr. I am well aware that maybe I should be. But I have a VERY hard time not standing up for myself. So when Justin tells me that he has to stay late tonight for a "teambuilding" activity, I am not feeling very supportive. I am wanting to punch somebody (wont mention names-no not my husband) because they are lecturing about the importance of teambuilding! Can you not accomplish this in the 8 hours that you have my husbands time? Must we really go to a corn maze to build our team when our family hasn't seen us in 3days and who won't see us at all tommorow either? Is the good we are accomplishing at said cornmaze equall to the good we might accomplish by giving wife a break after a long day where the baby only slept 4 hours the night previous and who doesn't seem to EVER take a nap! (and who is screaming in her swing now). Maybe if not mentioned person had kids of his own and a wife who is at home all day with needy children instead of a wife who has her own "teambuilding" experiences, maybe he would get it.
So let it be known now that at my funeral, it will not be said that "she never uttered a word of complaint" cause guess what? I am complaining!!!!!!!!!!!

Girls Weekend
Friday night, my sisters and I went to Park City for a little getaway. I am mad at myself for not taking any pictures. The excitement started very early when a little boy tried to climb in the car with us. He just walked into the garage and climbed into the car with Tiffany, Laurie and I. I didn't know who he was and he wasn't giving us any information except "the red park" so Laurie followed him to the park hoping that his parents were there. She called when she reached the park to tell us that the park was empty. We were just about to call the police to help, when he finally gave up his last name. Luckily, I recognized the name and I was able to drive to his parents house. As I pulled up the babysitter was just getting into the car to find him. Apparently the parents were in Las Vegas. So we finally pull out a half an hour late and as we get to the top of Provo canyon, Justin calls and asks if I know where the van keys are (since I was driving his car). "Why yes, as a matter of fact I do, they are in my coat pocket. Sorry!" Fortunately Gary and Tiffany were kind enough to lend their vehicle to Justin so that we didn't have to turn back around. Once we finally made it to the condo, we had a great time. It is so nice to be able to chat, eat, watch movies, shop and relax! Brooke flew in from St. George to be there. I hadn't seen her son Drew for a long time. He is very cute. He will be fighting off the ladies when he gets older. We were only missing Gina, but she was closing on her house so she had more important things to do.
Saturday we woke to snow. I knew that there was going to be a possibility but it snowed pretty hard for awhile. Thankfully, it didn't stick to the roads. I have a healthy fear of driving in the snow thanks to a couple of close calls in my days. It was fun to see Kate with snow in her eyelashes for the first time.
Next year we decided that we need to make it a two night event. I am all for that!

Child Labor
Nathan has a good friend by the name of Daniel Stodmeister. He is one of those children that you like your child to be around. Well, Daniel has some "connections" with a raspberry farmer. He gets to go pick rasperries for a 1.25 a lb. Nathan thought that the idea of having a paying job sounded pretty good. Justin and I thougt the idea of Nathan learning how to work hard sounded great. Daniel was able to get Nathan in on that gig and he went Monday after school. Justin and I were a little nervous. We hoped that he really would work hard and stick with it for two hours. When he finished he had earned $5. It was really sweet because he spent $3 of his hard earned cash to buy me two small containers of the raspberries he had just picked. He knew that I would like them and thought that we could make shakes with them for family night. We did and they were very good.
Mikaela always wants to do whatever Nathan does so when Nate went back on Wednesday, so did Mikaela. She is funny because she earned more that Nate did and was very proud of that. Nate claims that he found the raspberries and she took them before he had the chance. I went to pick them up from "work" that day and had my worries calmed when the owner intoduced himself and said that they were good workers.
On Friday we recieved a call asking for them to go back because they had recieved a large order that they needed help filling so I guess they are happy with their work. So far they have earned an average of $5 a day. I am excited that they have found something that will teach them that earning and saving money takes time and hard work. Who knows how long it will last, but they haven't complained about going. In fact, they still seem to think it is pretty great. That may have something to do with working with friends.
And hey, the farmer is getting a pretty good deal on labor.
